About Dr. Roberto Arundale

Dr. Roberto Arundale is an American cellist in high demand, originally from Fairbanks, Alaska, and based in Basalt, in the Roaring Fork Valley. He works with students ages 5–75, guiding beginners through their first notes and preparing advanced players for music school auditions, national summer music festivals, and professional opportunities. He also teaches online private lessons to a select group of students across the Western Seaboard, the United Kingdom, and Central Europe.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and the University of Colorado Boulder, Roberto trained under leading performers and pedagogues of the classical musical world including David Requiro, Stephen Geber, and Anthony Elliott. He has also studied with members of the Juilliard, Cleveland, and Takács String Quartets. Roberto has completed full Suzuki training with Dr. Melissa Kraut.

Dr. Arundale’s students have attended leading summer festivals such as the Aspen Music Festival & School, Bravo! Vail, Brevard, Kinhaven, and Interlochen, and have been accepted to top music schools with prestigious and highly competitive scholarships, including Indiana University, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Denver, the University of Colorado Boulder, Selkirk College, and Texas Christian University.

In the Valley, Arundale teaches a studio of more than 40 cellists, and serves on faculty at the Aspen Music Festival & School, the Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork, and Roaring Fork Youth Orchestras. His teaching is rooted in patience, discipline, and joy, balancing strong technique with musical expression.

For enjoyment, Roberto walks marathons, reads substantially, and studies poker & chess.
