He works with students ages 5–75, guiding beginners through their first notes and preparing advanced players for music school auditions, national summer music festivals, and professional opportunities. He also teaches online lessons to a select group of students spanning the West Coast, the U.K., and Europe.
A graduate of the University of Michigan, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and the University of Colorado Boulder (Doctor of Musical Arts), Roberto trained under some of the most celebrated performers and pedagogues of the cello world and completed full Suzuki training.
His students have attended leading summer festivals such as the Aspen Music Festival & School, Brevard, Kinhaven, and Interlochen, and have been accepted to top music schools with prestigious, highly competitive scholarships, including Indiana University, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Denver, the University of Colorado Boulder, Selkirk College, and Texas Christian University.
In the Valley, Roberto teaches a studio of more than 40 students and serves on faculty at both the Aspen Music Festival & School and the Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork. His teaching is rooted in patience, discipline, and joy, balancing strong technique with musical expression.
For discipline and enjoyment beyond music, Roberto walks marathons, reads, studies poker and chess.
